Over two months spent documenting Iceland’s landscapes and wildlife, a quiet fascination grew for the seabird colonies that gather along its cliffs and islands. As the days went by, the call of the birds and their ceaseless movement became impossible to ignore, gradually becoming an unexpected focus of attention. This series highlights the Atlantic puffin, one of Iceland’s most iconic species, and the Arctic tern, known for undertaking the longest migration in the animal kingdom, from Antarctic waters to the Arctic, where it returns each summer to breed. These photographs were taken across different regions of Iceland: on Grímsey Island, within the Heimaey archipelago, and along the western coast.
